CONWAY, SC –The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team closed the door on a great indoor season at the Coastal Carolina Invitational, Saturday.

Senior Shane Cyphert led the way for the Lions in the 400m race clocking in at 54.40 seconds. Cyphert was followed by a couple of freshmen, Brian Lauff and Cody Bupp who participated in the110m hurdles. The first-year runners recorded times of 16.04 seconds and 16.71 seconds, respectively. Bupp, later took his talent to the men's 400m hurdles (59.68 seconds) and finished 24th in a field of 36.

Jumping for the men were Dylan Beck and Evern Lee. Beck, a sophomore, placed 22nd in the long jump competition reaching 19' 4". Lee's best mark on the day was 17' 4".

Tyler McGrath, Jeremy Tiedemann and Michael Jaskolka each had strong performances in the throwing events. McGrath tallied over a hundred feet (35.68m) while Tiedemann netted 29.29m tossing the discus. Tiedemann also competed in the hammer throw reaching 29.29m. Jaskolka was the lone shot put contributor for Behrend. The freshmen launched the 16lbs ball 9.36m.

The 2011 outdoor season will kick off at the Bill Van Invitational on March 25.
