Behrend Performs Strong at the Gala

BURTON, OH – The Penn State Behrend men’s and women’s track and field program traveled to Kent State to open up the 2010 season in the Golden Flash Gala. The men broke a few school records while the women had solid performances facing several Divisions I and II teams.

Easton Winn and Mike Stark set school records together as they reached 4.45 meters to tie for 1st place in Behrend's pole vaulting history books. Stark also made his mark on the 60 meter hurdles finishing in 8.62 seconds.

Justin Dipenti crossed the line in 4:29 to eclipse the old school record of 4:30. This accomplishment was also good enough to place 7th in the men’s fierce one-mile race.

Craig Webb ran a school best 37.06 seconds 300 meter dash to take his place among the Lions top mid-range sprinters.

On the women’s side Jenna Fatica ran her way into a Top 10 spot, placing 7th in the one-mile run with a time of 5:30. Katie Spade and Liz Keller also joined in on the race placing 10th and 13th, respectively. Spade also finished 13th in the women’s 800 meter run.

Victoria Harwood finished 8th in the women’s open pole vaulting competition by reaching a height of 2.8 meters.

Behrend’s track and field program will head to the Edinboro Invitational on January 15.
