NEW WILLMINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team come out on top of 11 teams at the Westminster Invitational, Saturday. The men posted a team score of 171.5 points, 60 points higher than second place.
William Cvecko started the day off in the 800m and 1500m runs. Cvecko finished third in the 800m with a time of 2:01.44 then took to the 1500m race and crossed the line in 4:11.93 for sixth place. Next up was Denny Lydon who placed third out of 26 men in the 5000m race. Lydon clocked in at 15:51.36.
Brian Lauff (16.30 seconds) and Cody Bupp (18.03 seconds) participated in the 110m hurdles for the Lions, finishing first and third, respectively. Bupp then tied Michael Johnson in the 400m hurdles, both men recording times of 58.23 seconds.
In relay action, Jordan Telin ran the opening leg for the 4x400 squad that posted 3:29.17, Steve Monnie, Bupp and Craig Webb ran the second, third and fourth.
After competing in the hurdles, Johnson returned to his specialty, the high jump. The senior leaper took first after reaching a height of 1.85m.
In the pole vault competition, the men racked up plenty of points thanks to Eston Winn (2nd), Michael Stark (3rd) and Denny Kang (4th). The three Lions recorded vaults of 4.45m. James Griffith (7th) also held a top ten performance hitting 4m. Kang joined Winn and Stark with ECAC qualifications.
Ronson Mazany continued his brilliance in the long jump. The senior won second-place honors after leaping 6.60m. He was joined by Evern Lee (5.43m), Clifton Graves (5.37m) and Dylan Beck (5.25m). Mazany (13.50m), Lee (12.83m) and Beck (12.57m) then competed in the triple jump. The three placed first, second and fourth, respectively.
To end the day, John Cerminara participated in the shot put (13.12m) and discus throws (36.29m), earning second place in the shot put.
