Klein Earns Back-To-Back AMCC Runner of the Year Honors; 11 Named To All-Conference Team

ERIE, Pa. – Junior Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep) was named the 2023 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Men's Runner of the Year, while freshman Lucas Boyd (North East, PA/North East) earned Newcomer of the Year honors. Head coach Greg Cooper secured Coach of the Year honors.

Noteworthy:

* This marks back-to-back seasons in which Klein garnered the Runner of the Year award
* Klein notched a first-place finish at AMCC Championships this past weekend, finishing with a personal-best time of 26:10.29
* The third-year runner bested his time by over a minute from a year ago at championships where he crossed the finish line in a time of 27:14.5
* Boyd is the first Lion to win the Newcomer of the Year award, since Klein received the award during the 2021 season
* Boyd ran a time of 26:13.84 for a runner-up finish at championships
* Joining Klein and Boyd on the All-Conference Team were nine teammates
* Rounding out the top six for Behrend was Bennett Kerr (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional), Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley), Christopher Annear (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), and Peyton Brewer (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) to claim a spot on the All-AMCC Team
* Aidan Reinsel (North East, PA/North East) and Nicolin Pierce (Erie, PA/McDowell) registered eighth and ninth place finishes with times of 27:13.83 and 27:30.08, respectively to be named to the All-AMCC squad
* Placing 12th and 13th for All-Conference honors was Emil George (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) and Davis Saynuk (Columbia, MD/Howard), registering times of 28:02.10 and 28:10.99
* The final Behrend runner to earn All-Conference accolades was Theodore Boehm, who crossed the finish line in a time of 28:15.51 for 15th place
* Klein, Kerr, Domencic, Annear, and Reinsel were selected to the All-AMCC list last season, while Domencic has been named to the team all four years at Behrend
* Cooper registered his 12th Coach of the Year award for leading the Lions to their fourth title in a row and 15th overall championship
* Behrend's top seven runners will compete at NCAA Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Houghton, N.Y.
