ITHICA, NY - On Saturday afternoon the Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed in the Robert J. Kane Invitational at Cornell University.
Katie Monoskey (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) led the way for the Lions with a ninth place finish in the weight throw. The senior thrower hit a distance of 13.16m which also set a school record. Monoskey broke her own record set in 2009.
The 4x800m relay team also had a big day. The team of Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton), Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren), Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), and Victoria Harwood (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) finished with a time of 10:04.35 for fifth place. The squad qualified for ECAC's as well.
After the relay, Spade competed in the 800m run. Spade finished in 2:26.24 to bring home ninth place.
In the pole vault, Nicole Teribery (Bradford, PA/Bradford) cleared 3.15m for eighth place.
Bertges also had a top-15 finished. The sophomore runner finished the 5000m run in 19:14.89 for 15th place.
Behrend will travel to Gambier, OH on Saturday for the Kenyon Invitational at 12 p.m.
