WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at the Washington and Jefferson Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Victoria Harwood (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) led the Lions in four events. Harwood, had a pair of second place finishes in the 400m run and the pole vault.  In the 400m run, she crossed the line at 1:01.83 and in the pole vault she cleared 3.40m.  Harwood placed third in the 200m run with a time of 27.32. 

Harwood also teamed up with Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic), Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren), and Nicole Teribery (Bradford, PA/Bradford) in the 4x400m relay.  The squad placed third with a time of 4:16.37.

Spade also had a busy day for Behrend.  Spade placed fourth in the 1500m run with a time of 5:03.33 and took sixth in the 800m run, crossing the line at 2:24.43.  Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) competed in the 1500m run as well.  The sophomore runner placed 11^th with a time of 5:09.61.  Bertges then turned to the 5000m run where she took 9^th, finishing in 19:16.30.

In the 10000m run, Zofia Stark (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) had an excellent outing.  Stark took second with a time of 41:25.98.  Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) had a great performance of her own in the 3000m steeplechase.  Hughes ran a time of 12:01.86 for fourth place.

Back in the field events, April McDermott (Atco, NJ/Hammonton), Stephanie Stoughton (Chicora, PA/Karns City), and Katie Monoskey (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) all had stellar performances.  In the discus throw, all three athletes placed in the top-10.  McDermott led the Lions with a seventh place finish.  Stoughton and Monoskey placed ninth and 10^th respectively.  McDermott hit a distance of 33.99m with Stoughton hitting 32.61m and Monoskey throwing 31.41m.

Monoskey also competed in the hammer throw.  She took seventh, hitting a distance of 40.02m.  In the javelin, McDermott and Stoughton took seventh and eighth respectively.  McDermott hit 30.35m with Stoughton close behind at 30.10m.

Behrend will be back in action Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
