Three Behrend Lions Named to CWPA Varsity Scholar-Athlete Team

ERIE, Pa. – Three Penn State Behrend women water polo athletes were named to the 2018 Collegiate Water Polo Association Women's Varsity Scholar-Athlete Team on Tuesday.  Sophomore Jenessa Islas-Parker (Palantine, IL / Frema) and freshmen Angela Laier (Lansing, MI / Holt) and Daniella Rio-Martinez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico / Sagrados Corazones) all picked up CWPA Women's Varsity-Scholar Athlete team honors.

Islas-Parker played in all 19 games in 2018 and tied for the team lead with 22 assists.  She added 25 steals and 12 kickouts.  Isla-Parker also scored six goals during the 2018 campaign.

Angela Laier also competed in all 19 games during her first season as a member of the Penn State Behrend women's water polo program.  Laier tallied totals of 10 assists, 10 kickouts, and eight steals.  She added four goals.

Rounding out the CWPA Women's Varsity-Scholar Athlete Team was Daniella Rio-Martinez.  Rio-Martinez played in all 19 games as a freshman.  She scored 12 goals and added 10 assists.  Rio-Martinez also totaled 14 kickouts and 12 steals in 2018.
