Bohman Reaches Career Milestone; Baseball Sweeps D'Youville

BUFFALO, NY - Penn State Behrend senior Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell) surpased 200 career hits Wednesday afternoon as the Penn State Behrend baseball team swept D'Youville 17-4 and 11-2.

Bohman came in to game one just four hits away from the career milestone, but a 4-for-4 performance in game one sealed the deal. after hitting a single, double, and homerun, Bohman legged out an infield single in the top of the seventh for number 200.

The Lions (19-16, 10-4 AMCC) hit eight homeruns over the course of the day, including six in game one. They started the afternoon by scoring nine runs in the first three innings to take an early 9-2 lead. They continued to score in each of the remaining four innings to route the Spartans.

Scott Sada (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) finished game one with three hits including two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI. David Boehme (Venetia, PA/Seton-La Salle) drew two walks and hit a home run while crossing the plate twice.

Eric Bellisario (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) hit a pinch hit home run in the seventh. Zach Murray (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) finished going 2-for-2 with a single, home run, and two RBI.

Alex Hajduk (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) controlled game two allowing just three hits through the first five innings while holding D'Youville off the board until the sixth. He finished the game with six strikouts.

The Lions scored in each of the first five innings to take a 8-0 lead. Bohman continued his stellar day at the plate with a game-high three hits, including another long ball, three runs scored, and two RBI. He got Behrend's biggest inning of the game going in the top half of the third by drawing a walk. After Sada got hit by a pitch, Bohman stole third and then came in to score on an error by the catcher.

Later in the inning, Brandon Bergstrom (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Sada. Justin Foreman (Oakdale, PA/South Fayette) singled a few batters later to score two more Lions runs.

John Brittner (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) hit his second home run of the year in the seventh which Bohman followed with one of his own to help put the Spartans away.

The Lions will finish the regular season on Saturday in a conference doubleheader against La Roche beginning at 1 p.m. on the Behrend Diamond.
