ERIE, Pa - Andy Niland (Fairview, PA/Fairview) of the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

The sophomore guard averaged 20 points last week to help the Lions pick up two conference victories. Behrend handed La Roche their first conference loss on Wednesday, defeating the Redhawks 86-84. Niland scored a season-high 24 points in the win after shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. He then added 16 more on Saturday in a 40-point win over Franciscan. Niland shot 66.7 percent and drained two three's.
