Lions Route Mt. Aloysius; Win Fourth-Straight AMCC Game

CRESSON, PA - The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team picked up their fourth consecutive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win Saturday afternoon, defeating Mount Aloysius 89-57.

The Lions (14-5, 9-3 AMCC) had five players reach double figures including Justin Gorny (South Park, PA/South Park) who scored a career-high 21 points to lead the way.

Gorny drained eight field goals including five three's. He also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Malquan Pullium added 16 points after going 8-for-11 from the floor and Matt Colpoys (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) shot 62.5 percent to add 10 points.

Connor McLaughlin went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc while adding 11 points and Dan Wanker (Pittsburgh, PA/Pittsburgh) provided life off the bench, pulling down five rebounds and also adding 11 points.

Behrend and the Mounties (4-15, 4-8 AMCC) played the majority of the first half even, which included three ties and 10 lead changes. The Lions offense, however, exploded to close out the first half on a 20-3 run and leading by a score of 43-27. From then on, Behrend never looked back.

The second half proved to be all Behrend, outscoring Mount Aloysius 46-30. Gorny added 14 of his 21 points in the final 20 minutes to help build the Lions large lead.

Behrend forced 12 turnovers in the game while only commiting a season-low four.

Keven Scuilli (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) continued his hot shooting as of late, going 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and 1-for-1 from the free throw line for seven points.

As a team, the Lions have now shot over 50 percent in each of their last four games including three games with over 40 percent three-point shooting.

Behrend will be back in action this Wednesday when they travel to Buffalo, NY to take on Medaille. The game is set for 8 p.m.
