Lions Improve to 10-4 in AMCC With Win Over Pitt-Greensburg

ERIE, Pa - The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team defeated Pitt-Greensburg Saturday afternoon, 82-46, in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action.

The Lions (15-6, 10-4 AMCC) held the Bobcats (1-20, 1-13 AMCC) to just 29.6 percent shooting in the lopsided victory and caused 20 Greensburg turnovers. Behrend shot 50.0 percent on the day and drained nine three's.

Sophmore forward Justin Gorny (South Park, PA/South Park) led the Lions with 18 points after shooting 8-for-16 from the field.

Malquan Pullium (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) recorded his second double-double of the season after scoring 12 points and pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds.

Kevin Scuilli (McKees Rocks, PA/Montor) scored a career-high 12 points. The senior guard went 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and added three steals.

Mike Fischer (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) got things going for Behrend, dropping a triple and then a layup shortly after to give his team a 5-0 lead. The Lions continued to pile up the points for the next six minutes, making the score 14-0, before the Bobcats were able to get on the board.

Behrend took a 46-22 lead into the half after shooting 52.9 percent and draining seven of their nine three's. Pitt-Greensburg shot just 25.9 percent in the first 20 minutes.

The Lions started the second half in similar fashion as the first. Fischer, again, got things going with a three pointer and Behrend went on a 10-0 run to make the score 58-22 with 15:48 remaining.

The Lions would then cruise for the remainder of the game to pick up their 10th AMCC victory of the season.

Dan Wanker (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) finished the game with 12 points on 50.0 percent shooting and added five rebounds. Fischer shot 71.4 percent and went three-for-three from beyond the arc to add 15 points.

The Lions will look to add another win on Wednesday when they travel to La Roche for an 8 p.m. game.
