ERIE, Pa. - After a one-year hiatus of competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team is confident heading into the 2021 season with a first-place ranking in the AMCC preseason coaches' poll.
In 2019, the Lions finished runners up in the AMCC Championships and earned a bid to the ECAC Tournament. Behrend posted a 10-8-2 overall record and an 8-1-1 in conference play. The Lions are poised to capture their 15th AMCC Title this season, last winning the conference crown in 2018.
Senior defender Ava Michael (State College, PA/State College) was selected the AMCC Preseason Defender of the Year. Michael was a First Team All-AMCC choice in 2018 and earned Second-Team honors in 2019. She has started every game in her career and will serve as captain this season.
Pitt-Greensburg, the reigning AMCC Champions from 2019, was selected to finish second followed by Mt. Aloysius in third.
