Women’s Track & Field Runs at Home Meet

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at the Behrend Invitational this weekend.

Seven athletes and the 4x100m relay squad punched their tickets to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) at their home meet.

In the 100m run, Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) took third place after crossing the finish line at 13:10. She continued on the day to post ECAC qualifying marks in the pole vault and triple jump. Yenchik won the pole vault event at a height of 3.36m and then took fifth in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 10.23m. She also took third in the long jump and fourth in the high jump at 4.56m and 1.25m, respectively.

Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area) earned her spot at the ECAC championships in the 5000m run with a winning time of 18:35. 07.

Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) and Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch) both ran in the 200m race, finishing third and fourth respectively. Pell finished at time of 26.86 while Carlsson came in at 27.40. Pell also took first-place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.75.

Tiayerra Stroncek (Pittsburgh PA/Penn Hills) earned a second place finish in the high jump, finishing at a height of 1.30 while Pell took third with a 1.25m jump.

Also in the pole vault, Gabriella Loeffler (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) posted an ECAC qualifying mark of 3.06m for a third-place finish.

The 4x100m relay made up of Yenchik, Pell, Carlsson, and Loeffler took second with an ECAC qualifying time of 50.66.

Behrend returns to the track on Saturday to compete in the Ashland Invitational. The meet is set to begin Friday at 4 p.m. followed by a 10 a.m. start on Saturday.
