Behrend Women's Basketball First in AMCC Preseason Poll

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team was voted to finish first in the 2023-24 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Coaches' (AMCC) Poll, while junior guard Rachel Majewski (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) was chosen Preseason Player of the Year.

Majewski returns after landing on the All-Conference First Team and the All-ECAC Second Team last season. She led the conference and team in scoring with 18.6 points per game. Majewski also ranked fourth in three-point percentage (33.6) and was in the Top 10 in field-goal percentage (41.8). She scored double-digit points in all but one game, dropping a career-high 30 against Altoona.

The Lions were the runners-up in the AMCC last season, falling to La Roche 71-70 in the conference championship game. Behrend finished 21-7 overall and with a 12-2 mark in the AMCC, advancing to the ECAC South Championships.

In addition to Majewski, Behrend returns AMCC Newcomer of the Year Madilyn Boyer (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch). Boyer was the D3hoops.com All-Region 7 Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-AMCC selection. She led the conference in field-goal percentage (51.2) and three-point field-goal percentage (39.8). Boyer ranked third on the team and ninth in the AMCC in scoring (15.1 ppg).  

La Roche, the reigning AMCC Champions from 2023, was selected to finish second followed by Penn State Altoona in third.
