Altavilla Drops New Career High To Lead Behrend To 10th Conference Win

CRESSON, Pa. – Sophomore guard Morgan Altavilla (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) set a new career-high with 36 points to help lead the Penn State Behrend women's basketball team to its 10th conference victory at Mount Aloysius Saturday afternoon.

Key Moments:

* The Lions scored the first three baskets of Saturday's contest and only allowed the Mounties to record 11 first quarter points to take a 17-11 advantage after one quarter
* Behrend went on a 34-15 run in the second quarter to notch a 41-26 lead heading into halftime
* Mount Aloysius rallied back in the second half, knotting the score at 50 apiece with two minutes left in the third frame
* However, the Lions were able to once again pull away in the final quarter to secure their 12th overall and 10th conference victory
* Along with her new career-high in points (36), Altavilla also tallied a career-high with nine assists and a tied her season-high in steals (four). She finished 15-22 from the field and 2-5 from beyond the arc
* The second year guard previously set her career high at Alfred State last Wednesday with 34 points and has delivered 20-plus points in the past four games
* Madilyn Boyer (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) matched her season-high with 16 points, while grabbing a season-best seven rebounds
* The final Lion to score in double-figures Saturday was Rachel Majewski (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy), who chipped in 10 points to go along with five assists, four rebounds, and three steals
* On the defensive end Alexis Furyes (Medina, OH/Highland) collected five rebounds and blocked four shots, while Rachel Kaulis (McKean, PA/General McLane) registered eight rebounds
* The Mounties were led Molly Komsack's 19 points and game-high 15 rebounds. Off the bench, Annalyn Isaacs and Molly Richards each finished with 11 points
* As a team, Behrend scored 31 points off 32 Mount Aloysius turnovers and outscored the Mounties off fastbreak points (25-10)

* Behrend remains on the road for a pivotal conference contest at La Roche on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
