Track and Field Compete at John Homon Open

ALLIANCE, OH. - The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed Satuday afternoon at the John Homon Open hosted by Mount Union.

Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) took part in three top-five finishes on the day including a first place and school record performance in the 400 meter hurdles. She finished the race with a time of 1:04.49.

Pell also ran a leg in both the 4x100 and 4x400 team relay. Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler), Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch), Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan), along with Pell took first place in the 4x100 meter race with a time of 49.40.

Allen, Carlsson, Pell, and Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) ran to a time of 4:02.98 in the 4x400 relay to capture a third-place finish.

Allen, Hancock and Yenchik also added top five finishes in other events. Allen took fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.05 and then raced to 12.37 second finish in the 100, giving her fifth place.

Yenchik competed in the pole vault, earning fifth after posting a height of 3.36 meters (11'0.25").

Hancock qualified for ECACs and set a new personal record in the 800 meter race after taking fourth place with a time of 2:18.44.

Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, PA/East Allegheny) competed in the 10000 meter race, taking second after crossing the finish in 42:03.11.

The Lions will be back in action on April 22 when they host the Behrend Invitational beginning at 11 a.m.
