Five Named Track and Field All-Region

ERIE, Pa. – Four members of the Penn State Behrend men's track and field team and one women's runner were named Division III All-Region, announced on Monday.

To be named All-Region, an athlete must be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event or a top-3 relay team.

The lone woman to earn the award was junior Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler). She was All-Mideast Region in the 60m and 200m. Allen currently ranks tied for 16th in the nation with a time of 7.79 in the 60m while she ran a season-best time of 25.60 at Denison earlier this season.

Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion), Luke Patten (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex), Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville), and Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittanning) we each named All-Region were each named to the All-Region team on the men's side.

Obenrader is fifth in the nation in the shot put. He hold the school record at 17.13m (56'2.5"). Patten also ranks in the top-10 in the nation, sitting eighth in the pole vault. He vaulted to a height of 4.97m (16'3.5") for the second time this season on Saturday to be crowned ECAC Champion.

Buffington's time of 1:55.26 in the 800m run earned him All-Region honors while Grafton broke the school record in the 60m hurdles at the ECAC Championships this past weekend with a time of 8.32 to earn the All-Region honor.
