Women's Track & Field in Fifth Place at ECAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Penn State Behrend women's outdoor track & field team is currently in fifth place out of 20 teams at the 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships held at Westfield State University on Wednesday.

Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) was an All-ECAC choice in two events to help the Lions record 23 points after eight scored events. Yenchik was tied for runner up in the pole vault with a height of 10-11.75 and also eighth in the triple jump (34-03).

Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) came in fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:02.58 for All-ECAC honors.

Sargent, Jenna Shelton (Cabot, PA/Knoch) and Caitlin Plazony (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch) won the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:07.67.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) advanced to the 100m finals with a time of 12.00 in the preliminaries. Her time now places her 15th in the nation.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow for day two of the ECAC Championships. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
