Obenrader National Runner-Up in Javelin

GENEVA, Ohio – Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) is national runner-up in the javelin on the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio on Thursday.

Obenrader now has a gold medal and two silver medals in the javelin for his career. The senior made his final attempt his best with a toss of 66.70m (218-10) to finish runner-up and break the stadium record of 66.13m. Obenrader earns All-American status for his second place, marking his sixth All-American accolades to date.

Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittaning) qualified for the finals in the 400m hurdles with the fourth-best time of the day of 52.95 in the preliminaries. His time ties his school record he set this season. The senior will compete in the finals on Saturday afternoon.

The final competitor for the Lions on day one was Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler). The senior was two spots shy of qualifying for the finals in the 200m. Allen tallied her second-best time of the season of 25.10 for 10th in the nation. She will compete tomorrow in the 100m.
