Men's Water Polo Receives Academic Honors

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team and four of its players were recognized by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) and the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) for their academic accomplishments outside of the pool.

The CWPA recognized 16 institutions as Scholar-Athletic Teams for recording grade point averages above a 2.75 threshold. The Lions made the list and were granted the award with a team GPA of 2.83.

The CWPA and ACWPC divided athletes into three teams based on cumulative grade-point average. Athletes received 59 Outstanding (4.00-3.71), 122 Superior (3.70-3.41) and 145 Excellent (3.40-3.20) honors.

Kyle Frerichs (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge), Cedrick Chan (Naperville, IL/Waubonsie Valley), Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) and Cameron Makin (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) were all recognized on the Excellent team for achieving cumulative GPAs of 3.20-3.40.
