Golfers Sit Third After Day One of AMCC Championships

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – The defending Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) golf champions, Penn State Behrend, sits in third place with a team score of 328 after the first round of the 2010 AMCC Championships held at Oak Tree Country Club on Sunday.

The Lions are one stroke away from second-place team La Roche, who finished with a 327 total. Penn State Altoona is in the lead with a lowest team score of 316. Altoona has the top golfer on the day in Chris Perry with a 75. He is four over par on the 6,658 yard course.

Kevin Koerbel paced the Lions and tied for eighth overall with an 80 for 18 holes. He carded the third lowest score for the front nine with 37 and finished with a 43 on the back. The second-best total on the squad for the day was an 81 by Zack Polanski. He tied for 13th with a 42 on the first nine and 39, a team low, on the back.

Marc Neiswonger shot a 41 on the front and back for an 82 and 15th place, while Kyle Meehl tallied an 85 (42-43) for 19th. The fifth Behrend golfer was Anthony Mangano with a score of 90 (44-46)

The Lions return to action tomorrow for the second round of the conference tournament. Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m.
