Men's Golf Captures Spartan Shootout

FORESTVILLE, NY – The Penn State Behrend men’s golf team captured its first invitational of the fall, posting a team-low score of 333 at the D’Youville Spartan Shootout at the Tri County Country Club on Tuesday.

The Lions won by eight strokes, edging out second-place Mt. Aloysius (341). Kevin Koerbel, last week’s AMCC Golfer of the Week, led the team once again with a score of 81. Mac Wolfe of the Mounties won individual honors with a low-round of 80.

Four other Behrend golfers shot in the 80’s, including fifth-place Marc Neiswonger. The senior carded an 82 to come in behind Koerbel on the team. Dean Rainville and David Phillips were two strokes apart, shooting an 84 and 86 respectively.

Mitch Connors was the fifth golfer in the lineup for the Lions and recorded a 100 in his first collegiate golf tournament.

Behrend is back in action on Sunday at the Allegheny Invitational.
