Golfers Win Second Invitational; Polanski Takes Individual Medalist Honors

FORESTVILLE, NY – Zack Polanski (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) shot a two-over par with a team-low score of 74 to help the Penn State Behrend men's golf team win the 2012 Spartan Shootout hosted by D'Youville at the Tri-County Country Club on Wednesday.

Polanski tied for first overall with Dylan Link of Mt. Aloysius to share the individual medalist honors. As a team, the Lions posted a 303 to match their lowest score of the season. The Mounties were second with 319 and Medaille place third with a score of 322.

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) and Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) tied for second on the team and fourth overall with a 76. Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) was the fourth player to crack the Top 10, carding a 77 for sixth place.

Alex Italiano (Greenburg, PA/Hempfield) tied for 12th overall with Behrend's fifth score of 83.

The Lions return to action on Sunday at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational. Tee times begin at 10 a.m.
