Men's Golf Ready To Compete at NCAA Championships

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team will compete at the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships this week at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.

Methodist will be hosting the 72-hole championship from May 14-17. The competition begins at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. After 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams.

The Lions are making their second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament after winning back-to-back Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) titles this fall. Dante Vetica was the individual medalist at the AMCC Championships with a two-day score of 146, helping the Lions post a 20-stroke win over La Roche.

A total of 210 participants will compete at the 2013 championships. Behrend was one of 30 conferences awarded automatic qualification for the championships.
