Golfers Finish at NCAA's

DESTIN, Fl. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team finished 36th out of 41 teams place at the NCAA Division III Championships held at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort on the Raven and the Links.

The Lions carded a 323 on the second day of competition to get a total score of 661 overall, but fell short of advancing to the finals.

Freshman Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) led Behrend with a two-day total of 155 to tie for 83rd overall. Three birdies on the day helped the newcomer fire a 75 to finish four-over par.

Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) was four strokes behind VanDamia for the tournament, ending with a 159. After getting the best team score on day one with an 79, he shot an 80 to complete the 36-hole round.

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) was third on the team like yesterday. He was three strokes better with an 83 for a 169 total. Zack Polanski (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) took seven strokes off day one to finish +14 over par with an 85. The senior started the day with three straight birdies. Polanski's total was 178.

Alec Italiano (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) tallied an 89 to add to his first-day total of 95 for a final score of 184.
