Vetica Leads Men's Golf To Fourth AMCC Championship

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) was the individual medalist with a two-day score of 146 to lead the Penn State Behrend men's golf team to their fourth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Monday afternoon at the Oak Tree Country Club.

Vetica recorded a 72 yesterday to combine with a 74 today for first place, while the Lions finished with a team score of 302 on the second day to end with a 616 total to defend the conference title. La Roche came in second with a 636 and Medaille was in third with a 660. With the win, Behrend earned the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Vetica, who earned a 162 and tied for seventh last year at the championships, fired a few of his best rounds this season to take home the individual trophy.

Zack Polanski (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) and Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBeouf) were tied heading into today's round with an 82, and managed to card the same score again today with a 72 for a 155 total. The round of 72 was the lowest score out of the 45 competitors on day two.

Scott Klein (Erie, PA/Fairview) shot an 82 after posting a 78 on day one for a 160 to have his score be the fourth to count for Behrend. Dan Corbin (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) was three strokes over his first day total with an 82.
