Men's Golf In First Place After Day One at AMCC Championships

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) shot a low score of 72 at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships to help Penn State Behrend take the lead after day one at the Oak Tree Country Club.

The Lions hold a five-stroke lead over second-place La Roche (319). Medaille is in third place with a 330 score.

Vetica has a six-stroke advantage over second-place golfer and teammate Scott Klein (Erie, PA/Fairview), who was the runner-up last year at the conference championships. Klein finished the first day with a 78 to tie for second with Nolan Schank from La Roche.

Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Zack Polanski (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) each tied with an 82, while fifth golfer Dan Corbin (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) tallied an 89 for the course.

Behrend will look to defend its title on the final day of the championships tomorrow.
