Golfers Take Third Again at Thiel Invitational

GREENVILLE, Pa. – For the second week in a row, the Penn State Behrend men's golf team competed at a Spring Invitational hosted by Thiel and finished in third place again, this time posting a team score of 321 on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions were third among seven teams. St. Vincent won the tournament once again (307) and Thiel was second (317) for a second straight week.

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) matched his score from last week with a 78, tying for seventh overall. Vetica hit 39 on the front and the back nine.

Nick VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) matched each other with a 79, good enough to tie for 11th place overall. VanDamia had the best score for the front nine with a 38 among his teammates.

Roman Klaric (Hermitage, PA/West Middlesex) finished with an 85, placing him tied for 19th. He pushed a 43 on the front and 42 on the back nine. Dan Corbin (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) was the final golfer for Behrend. He tallied a 91 on the day (47-44).

Women's golfer Lisa Giancola carded a 103 for the par 72 course.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
