Lions Finish Fifth at CMU

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team fired a team score of 304 to finish fifth out of seven teams at the Edward Jones Shootout hosted by Carnegie Mellon on Sunday.

After day one, the Lions were in sixth place with a score of 317. The squad shaved 13 strokes off yesterday's score for a two-day total of 621 for fifth place. Allegheny remained out in front to win with a 591 and St. Vincent battled from fourth to take second by one stroke (592). Carnegie Mellon took third (599) and Washington & Jefferson finished fourth (600).

Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) tied for 14th overall with a combined score of 152. He added a round of 77 to his 75 for a two-day total of 152. Roman Klaric (Hermitage, PA/West Middlesex) held down the 18th spot with a score of 153. He tied for a team-low score of 74 on the day.

Nick VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), who carded an 80 on day one, finished tied for 19th after shooting a 74 on the second day earning him a 154 total. Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) took five strokes off his total from yesterday (84) to finish the 36 holes with a 163, good enough for 34th overall.

Brian Ropiecki (North East, PA/North East) ended with a 168 (83-85) for 39th place.
