Trio of Lions Earn AARTFC Qualifying Marks To Open Indoor Season

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend men's indoor track & field season began its season at the Houghton December Classic held at the Kerr-Pegula Field House Friday afternoon.

Key Moments:


* Three Lions hit AARTFC qualifying marks during Friday's meet
* In the pole vault, Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) set a new personal best and an AARTFC qualifying mark of 15-3 for a runner-up finish in the event
* Brendan Luce (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern) scored a third-place finish in the 60m final, finishing with a time of 7.24
* Freshman Brandon Konieczki set an AARTFC qualifying mark in his first meet in the long jump with a leap of 21-11 ½ that was good for fourth place
* Senior Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) finished fourth in the high jump with an AARTFC qualifying clearance of 6-3 ½
* Behrend picked up another fourth place finish from Alex Cotton (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch)  in the shot put (47-1 ¾), while Max Rohl (Horsehead, NY /Horseheads) threw a 43-5 for a seventh-place finish
* In his first collegiate meet, Jake Egizio (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) placed third in the 200m final (23.04), while Jake Walden (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) finished in the top ten (eighth) of the 400m with a time of 54.63
* The 4x4 relay team of Egizio, Luce, Walden, and David Friedrich ran a time of 3:41.26 for a seventh-place finish to conclude Friday's meet
