Women's Volleyball Improves to 6-1 With a Pair of Wins

ERIE, Pa. – The Behrend women's volleyball team went 3-1 on the weekend, defeating Utica and Westminster on day two of the 2023 Behrend Invitational held on Saturday.

Records: Penn State Behrend (5-1), Utica (3-4)

Noteworthy: Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) was named to the All-Tournament Team

Key Moments:

* As a team, the Lions hit .328 with 45 kills on 116 attempts and just seven errors in three sets
* Sara Nobach (Athens, MI/Athens) reached 500 career digs with a match-high 21
* Breana Reynolds (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) continues to knock the ball down the middle with accuracy, hitting .550 behind 12 kills on 20 attempts with one error
* Phillips has had double-digit kills in six matches this season, including vs. the Pioneers with a team-high 14
* Phillips also added five digs and two service aces
* Meg Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) never left the court and contributed 39 assists, four digs, three kills and two service aces
* The Lions used back-to-back runs in the first set to pull out to a double-digit lead to win 25-13
* Behrend went ahead 2-0 with a 25-17 victory and then went on a 10-1 run to close out the third set and the match

* The Lions went undefeated on the day with a come-from-behind victory, winning three unanswered sets

* The Lions knocked Westminster off the undefeated ranks

* After winning 25-22 in the second, Behrend held the Titans to just 13 kills in the third and 15 in the fourth
* Phillips tallied a season-high 22 kills and 21 digs for her third double-double
