FREDONIA, N.Y. - The Penn State Behrend baseball team took back the Interstate 90 (I-90) Cup from Fredonia with a 6-2 road victory Tuesday.

* Both teams have to travel about 40 minutes down I-90 to play each other, thus the long-lasting tradition of the I-90 Cup. The two teams have not meant since the 2021 season when Fredonia won 13-4 to hold the cup
* The Blue Devils tallied the first run of the game on an RBI single from Tyler Curtis in the top of the first
* Behrend grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second inning, thanks to an RBI single from Spencer Deitz (Erie, PA/McDowell) and an error by Fredonia's pitcher
* An Anthony Slate (Hopewell, PA/Hopewell) sac fly in the top of the third added a run for the Lions
* Fredonia cut its deficit to one with an RBI groundout in the fourth inning
* Slate drove in his second run of the game with another sac fly to make it 4-2 after five innings
* In the top of the seventh, Daniel Boehme (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle) tallied an RBI single of his own
* Freshman Dylan Barnes (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) capped off Behrend's I-90 Cup win with his first collegiate home run in the ninth
* Starter Alec Greenblatt (Oliveburg, PA/Punxsutawney) settled in after the first inning, surrendering only one run on three hits with three strikeouts in three innings pitched
* Senior Evan Bromley (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) earned his first win of the year in relief, allowing one run on two hits to go along with two strikeouts
* Nathan Campbell (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and Sawyer Prince (Shinglehouse, PA/Port Allegany) each threw a scoreless inning out of the bullpen
* At the plate for the Lions, Boehme finished with a game-high four hits, while Slate recorded two RBIs
* The Blue Devils were led by Curtis and AJ Roach's two hits apiece
