ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend baseball team outscored Wells 19-1 in two Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) games Thursday afternoon. Senior Anthony Slate (Hopewell, PA/Hopewell) registered his 100th career hit in the first game against the Express.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 8, Wells 1

Key Moments:

* David Gibson (North East, PA/North East) delivered the first run of the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the first
* Slate stepped up to the plate in the bottom of third and recorded his 100th career base hit to load the bases 
* With the bases loaded, Hank Shaffer (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) tallied a two-run single to give the Lions a 3-0 lead
* The Express plated their only run of the doubleheader in the top of the fourth
* Dylan Barnes (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) extended Behrend's lead with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning
* The Lions registered three runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to cap off their game one victory
* Game one starter Ethan Tinker (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) tossed his first shutout of the season, surrendering one run on six hits with five strikeouts to earn his third win of the season
* Gibson and Spencer Deitz (Erie, PA/McDowell) finished with a game-high three hits, while Shaffer drove in two runs
* Wells was led by Zach Young's two hits

* Chase Palmer (Brookville, PA/Brookville) came up big with a pair of two-out RBI singles in the second and fourth innings to give Behrend a 3-0 advantage
* The Lions extended their lead with a five-run fifth inning, highlighted by another RBI single from Palmer and a run batted in by Deitz
* In the next inning, Behrend notched three more runs to put the 10-run rule into effect
* The big blow in the bottom of the sixth came on an RBI double from Shaffer
* Freshman Andrew Bredel (Clinton, PA/Burgettstown) threw his first career shutout in game two to earn his third win on the mound, allowing only four hits and two walks with two strikeouts
* At the plate, Palmer went 3-for-3 with four runs batted in, while Shaffer and Barnes recorded two hits apiece
