ERIE, Pa. - On Monday, October 24 the Behrend baseball coaching staff and 11 players visited the Penn State Behrend Child Care Center, located in Knowledge Park.
"I had a great time hanging out with the kids today," said sophomore Kenny Dorn. "Seeing all their energy and smiles makes me wish I was a kid again."
The cool October morning didn't stop Dorn and his teammates from playing kickball, duck, duck, goose, and freeze tag with the kids. Senior Jack Herzing read a few books to them as well.
"We often get caught up in the busy work from class," said senior Brian Bohman. "Spending some time with the kids was a good change in pace."
The baseball team is also an active supporter of Grady's Decision, a non-profit organization that strives to support families experiencing premature births as well as families with children needing specialized medical attention.
This will be the fourth year in a row the team will grow their hair out and voluntarily get it cut to raise money for the organization. They are set to hold the haircuts some time in December.
