Five Behrend Baseball Players Named AMCC All-Conference

ERIE, Pa. - Sophomores Phil Myers (DuBois, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) and Scott Sada (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) were named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) All-Conference First Team to highlight the 2017 awards.

Also named to the All-Conference Team were seniors Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Justin Rohrer (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) and sophomore Mason McGuire (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) who all earned Second-Team accolades.

Myers, a lefty pitcher for the Lions, is earning the All-Conference honor for the first time in his career after a standout season on the mound. In AMCC action, he went 4-1 on the mound, throwing four complete games in 36 innings. He held a 2.50 ERA, allowing just ten earned runs, 34 hits, and struck out 28 opponents. Overall, he finished with a 3.05 ERA which was fourth in the conference, six wins, also fourth in the AMCC, and the fifth-most strikeouts with 50.

Sada is making his second-straight appearance on the First Team, earning the honor for the second base position. He led Behrend is nearly every offensive category, which also placed him in the top-five in the conference as well. Sada collected 62 hits including 20 doubles, three triples, and seven home runs for a .390 overall batting average. He recorded the second-most RBI in the AMCC with 48 and finished with a .686 slugging percentage. He also swiped 19 bags on 22 attempts and drew 15 walks. Earlier this season, Sada was named CoSIDA First Team All-Region.

Bohman capped off his career with a Second-Team nod for the second time in his career, now earning All-Conference all four years. The senior played a vital role for the Lions in the outfield durin the 2017 campaign where he earns recognition. Bohman finished the season with a .333 batting average which included 54 hits. He smacked 12 doubles, three triples, and three home runs while drawing a team-leading 23 walks.

McGuire also picked up the nod in the outfield after a strong first season with Behrend. He collected 125 at bats with 45 hits for a .360 average. McGuire hit 12 doubles and drove in 26 runs with a .488 slugging percentage.

Rohrer is making the Second Team for the first time and earned All-Conference for the third time to close out his career. In 12 appearances, he collected a 5-6 record including a 4-2 mark in AMCC action. He pitched a team and conference-leading 73.2 innings striking out 68 batters along the way for a 8.31 strikeouts per nine average. He finished the season with a 3.18 ERA and pitched four complete games.
