YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team competed today at the Youngstown St. Invitational for their second indoor meet of the season.
Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) led the way for the Lions with a 5000m run time of 15:48.11. In the process, Lydon shattered the previous school record by just over 18 seconds.
Billy Cvecko (Erie, PA/McDowell) continued to have a strong start to the season. The sophmore runner finished the 800m run with a time of 2:02.73, which was good enough for third place. Cvecko also finished the one mile run in 4:33.91 for a 10th place finish.
In the field events, Conor MacMannis (Fredericksburg, VA/Kubeszki) took home eighth place in the long jump with a distance of 6.38m. MacMannis also did well in the high jump, taking fifth place with a height of 1.87m. Kyle Whitley (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) cleared 12.11m in the triple jump to place seventh.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday at the Mt. Union Invitational. Start time is 10 a.m.
