IUP Invitational Results
INDIANA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team competed at the Ed Fry Invitational, hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania, on Saturday afternoon.
In their final meet before the Mason Dixon Championships, the Lions had several athletes with strong performances.
In the pole vault, Dylan Bilka (Seven Fields, PA/Seneca Valley) and Garrett Shaw (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) both placed in the top-five. Both athletes vaulted over 4.35m with Bilka tying for second and Shaw taking home fourth.
Staying in the field events, John Cerminara (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) had a top-10 performance in the shot put. The senior thrower hit 13.53m for seventh place. Cerminara also placed fourth in the discus at 39.87m. Seth Weible (Johnsonburg, PA/Johnsonburg) was close behind in the discus throw. Weible took fifth with a distance of 39.81m.
Geoffrey Faltot (Mercer, PA/Mercer) took third in the long jump with a distance of 6.25m. In the javelin throw, Alex Yaegle (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) placed fifth after hitting 50.78m.
Back on the track, Faltot competed in the 100m dash as well. Faltot crossed the line at 11.57 for eighth place. In the 110m hurdles, Brian Lauff (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) placed sixth with a time of 16.73.
Billy Cvecko (Erie, PA/McDowell) ran well in the 800m. Cvecko took sixth after crossing the line at 1:58.78. Behrend had two athletes place in the top-10 in the 5000m run. Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) took third with Jason Zabelsky (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) placing ninth. The two distance runners crossed the finish line at 15:42.25 and 16:31.60 respectively.
The Lions will be back in action on May 5th at the Mason Dixon Championships.
