Lions Fall to Baldwin-Wallace

ERIE, Pa. – The Baldwin-Wallace women's swimming and diving team handed the Penn State Behrend Lions their first dual-meet loss of the season with a 161-69 decision in non-conference action on Saturday at the Junker Center.

Anne Lawrence (State College, PA/State College) was the lone individual winner for the Lions, capturing the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:26.17. She also was first on the team and second overall in the 200 IM (2:25.92).

Lawrence swam on the second-place 400 medley relay that opened the meet. She joined Julie Cook (Warren, PA/Warren), MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield) and Jamie Boyle (Sarver, PA/Freeport). The team clocked in at 4:25.59.

In the 50 free, Hilary MacManus (Beaver Falls, PA/Blachhawk) was .07 seconds behind the winner with a time of 26.54. She was also a part of the 400 free relay team along with Boyle, Spooner and Katie Siffrinn (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillian) that took second in 4:01.91.

Spooner led the Lions in the 200 backstroke, taking second with a time of 2:22.98. Siffrinn came in third in the same event (2:29.20), while also earning third in the 200 IM behind Lawrence in 2:32.70.

In the final individual event, Cook paced Behrend with a time of 2:46.50 for second place.

The diving events featured Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) and Emily Frederick (Russell, PA/Eisenhower). Wade was second in both the 1m and 3m events, getting scores of 220.10 and 218.20, respectively.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at Allegheny. Meet time is 1 p.m.
