Lions Fall To Washington & Jefferson

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's swimming and diving team outlasted Penn State Behrend 149-100 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Anne Lawrence (State College, PA/State College), Jesse Dunleavy (McMurry, PA/Peters Township) and Julie Cook (Warren, PA/Warren) were individual winners for the Lions. Lawrence won the 200 butterfly in 2:22.10 and also placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:03.64).

Dunleavy's first event of the day, the 1650 free, earned her third place with a time of 20:21.13 before winning the 500 free in 5:54.89. In the breaststroke events, Cook led Behrend to a first-place finish in the 200 (2:41.03) and took second in the 100 (1:09.66).

Hilary MacManus (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) and Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) tallied two second-place finishes on the day. MacManus was runner-up in the 50 free (26.62) and 100 free (59.91), while Wade was second in the 1-meter diving (199.75) and on the three-meter board (169.55).

In the 100 backstroke, Katie Siffrinn (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) recorded the best time for the Lions, clocking in at 1:04.54 for third.

To end the meet, the team of Dunleavy, Siffrinn, MacManus and Lawrence teamed up for first in the 800 free relay with a time of 8:59.46.

Behrend returns to action on Friday at Pitt-Bradford. Meet time is 5 p.m.
