Behrend Finish Day Two of Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational

FREDONIA, NY – Anne Lawrence (State College, PA/State College) placed second in the 200 butterfly with a season-best time of 2:14.32 to lead the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team on the second day of the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday.

The Lions remain in fifth place out of nine teams with a two-day total of 232. SUNY Fredonia is in first place with a score of 618.

MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield) took first in the preliminaries in the 200 backstroke and ended up finishing third with a season-best time of 2:15.03. Katie Siffrinn (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) took fifth in 2:19.32, also her best time this year.

Spooner, Lawrence, Julie Cook (Warren, PA/Warren) and Hilary MacManus (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) formed the 400 medley relay team that placed third in 4:12.35.

In the 100 breaststroke, Cook was fifth in 1:12.63. She then joined Spooner, MacManus and Siffrinn in the 200 free relay. They clocked in at 1:44.08.

In the first diving event of the invitational, Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) tallied a score of 313.55 for 11 dives on the 1-meter board for eighth place.

Jesse Dunleavy (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) beat her best time in the 500 free by 14 seconds, earning her 11th overall with a time of 5:37.96.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow for the final day of the invitational. Meet begins at 10 a.m.
