Pell, Obenrader Named CSAC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's and women's track and field teams had two athletes named Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Athlete of the Week for their performances at the Carnegie Mellon Quad Meet over the weekend.

Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) earned women's track athlete of the week and Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) was named men's field athlete of the week.

Pell was has the second-best time in the 100 meter hurdles and was the number one point scorer after finishing in 16.63 seconds. She then won the 400m hurdles with a time 1:06.93 and then competed in the very next event (200 meter dash) placing fourth in 28.40. She finished the day by running a leg on the winning 4x100m relay team (50.88).

Obenrader was the number one point scorer in three field events over the weekend. He began the day with a first-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 61.42 meters. He then won the shot put after posting a facility-record throw of 17.21 meters. He finished the day with a second overall and first in the scored meet in discus after a 46.45 meter throw.
