ERIE, Pa. – Shane Skelly (Westlake, OH/Westlake) scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Casey Courneen (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley) added 13 points with six assists to help the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team defeat Penn State Altoona 72-57 at the Junker Center on Saturday afternoon.
The win pushed the Lions to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in AMCC play.
Keith Wallace (Erie, PA/Central Tech) poured in 13 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. The junior scored six of his 13 points in a span of 2:36 to essentially put the game away early in the third quarter.
But it was another late first half run that truly keyed the Lions' victory. After Altoona's Michael Wigfield hit a three to make the score 15-14, Behrend went to work.
The Lions went on an 11-2 run to make the score 26-16 and then 35-20.
Nick Delisio (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) filled up his stat sheet with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Wes Davic (Grafton, OH/Midview) grabbed six rebounds for Behrend who has won six in a row. Zane Hackett (Brookville, PA/Brookville) finished with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Behrend will have a week off before they travel to conference rival La Roche on Saturday, January 18 at 2 p.m.
