ERIE, PA. – Penn State Behrend men's basketball coach Dave Niland was named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year, announced on Tuesday.

In 2013-14, Niland led the Lions to one of the most successful seasons in program history. Behrend posted a 24-5 overall record, captured the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) regular season and tournament championships, and a first-round victory in the NCAA Tournament.

Over the course of Niland's 20-year career with the Lions, he has led the program to a 387-167 overall record, five conference titles, and seven NCAA Tournament appearances.

Earlier this March, Niland was named AMCC Coach of the Year for a record eighth time.
