EDINBORO, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team started their season at the Edinboro Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Two school records fell in the season opener with one athlete qualifying for the ECAC's.
Billy Cvecko (Erie, PA/McDowell) started the season strong by taking fourth place in the 800m run. In the process, the sophomore set a new school record with a time of 1:58.49.
Another school record fell in the field events. John Cerminara (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) set a new school record in the shot put with a distance of 14.68m. The junior thrower qualified for ECAC's as well with his third place finish.
Dylan Bilka (Seven Fields, PA/Seneca Valley) made an immediate impact for the Lions. Bilka cleared 4.40m to take second place in the pole vault.
Another notable performer for Behrend was Conor MacMannis (Fredericksburg, VA/Kubeszki) who took sixth in the long jump with a distance of 6.05m. The freshman jumper also came in fourth place in the high jump after he cleared 1.74m.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday. Behrend will travel to the Youngstown State Invitational. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
