Lions Compete at Mt. Union Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio. - The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team had a strong outing at the Mt. Union Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Conor MacMannis (Fredericksburg, VA/Kubeszki) led the Lions with a first place finish in the men's high jump.  MacMannis cleared 1.93m to bring home his first collegiate first place.  In the process MacMannis also qualified for ECAC's.

Dylan Bilka (Seven Fields, PA/Seneca Valley) had a record-setting day.  The freshman pole vaulter sent the school record by taking second place with a height of 4.73m.  Bilka also qualified for the ECAC's.

Behrend had four athletes bring home third place finishes.  John Cerminara (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) took third place in the shot put with a distance of 13.94m.  Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) ran the 3000m run in 9:13.90 which was also good enough for third.  In the 500m dash, Cody Bupp (Warren, PA/Warren) finished in 1:11.52 for another Lions' third place. Capping off the strong performances was Billy Cvecko (Erie, PA/McDowell) with a 1000m time of 2:37.89.  Cvecko broke the school record in the event, a record that has stood since 2003.

Another record was broken in the 4x200m relay.  Cvecko and Bupp teamed up with Geoffrey Faltot (Mercer, PA/Mercer) and Anthony Munion (Oakmont, PA/Riverview) for a second place finish with a time of 1:35.53.

The Lions will be back in action on Saturday for the Cornell Invitational.  Start time is 10 a.m.
