Lions Set to Host Cross Country Invitational Friday

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team will host their home invitational on Friday night up at the Behrend Fields with the race beginning around 6:10 p.m.

* Behrend is looking to repeat as the winners of the PSB Invitational
* The Lions won back on Sept. 13, 2019 (no meet in 2020 due to Covid-19), posting a score of 31 for first out of 13 teams
* The Lions will run the 8K race after the women finish competing in the 6K at 5:30 p.m.
* Behrend is running in its second invitational of the season and first one at home
* Last time out, the Lions placed third out of four teams at the Houghton Invitational on Sept. 1
* Senior Phoenix Myers (Erie, PA/Seneca) led the way for the Lions, taking eighth with a time of 16:20.59 with an average mile of 5:16
* Junior Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) was nine seconds before Myers for ninth overall (16:29.70)
* Freshman Kody Klein (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) made his collegiate debut as the top freshman for Behrend, running 16:38.02 for 11th place
* After the first meet of the season, the Lions moved from fourth in the USTFCCCA Niagara regional rankings to eighth out of 10 teams
