ERIE, Pa. – Leslie Durante and Allison Quigley were double winners on the afternoon to help the Behrend women’s tennis team defeat Alfred 7-2 in non-conference action on Friday.

The Lions (4-0) remained unscathed to start the season, winning two out of the three doubles matches and five out of the six singles for their fourth consecutive victory.

After the No. 1 doubles team lost 8-2, Hillary Lasher and Durante had a close win at No. 2 with a 9-7 extra sets win. Quigley and Jade Buhite easily posted their 8-2 win at third doubles for a 2-1 Behrend lead.

Arica Christman, at No. 1 singles, came back from her doubles loss to down her opponent 6-1, 6-0. Steph Cattron lost in the first set 6-4 and then won the next two sets at ease 6-1, 6-0.  Durante’s second victory of the day was a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles and Quigley followed at fifth singles with a 6-2, 6-0 decision.

Jenna Sellitto improved her singles record to 2-0 playing for the first time at No. 6, scoring a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

The Lions return to action on tomorrow at the Allegheny Invitational. Behrend faces Indiana (Pa.) in the first match at 9 a.m.
