BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis team earned a 9-0 win over Medialle on Thursday to capture it 2010-11 season opener.
The Lions (1-0) only lost one game in the three doubles matches and one in the six singles contests.
Behrend started by sweeping the doubles competition. Arica Christman and Stephanie Cattron picked up the No. 1 doubles win, posting an 8-0 victory. Hillary Lasher and Elissa Swartz captured an 8-1 win at No. 2 while Allison Quigley and Jade Buhite shut out their opponents, 8-0 at the No. 3 spot.
In singles action, Christman, Lasher, Quigley, Jenna Sellitto and Megan Noschese each won by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Cattron, playing at No. 2 singles, posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
The Lions return to action on Saturday for their home opener against Mt. Aloysius in AMCC action. Match time is 1 p.m.
