Women's Tennis Defeats Mt. Aloysius

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis team swept the singles competition and won two out of the three doubles matches to defeat Mt. Aloysius 8-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions (2-0, 2-0 AMC) had nine different winners on the day, starting with Emily Phinny and Courtney Boyle at No. 2 doubles. They defeated Angela Espinoza and Kim Rentuma 8-2 before Jenna Sellitto and Elissa Swartz teamed up to shutout Jennalynn Gephart and Aisha Wilson 8-0 at No. 3.

Leslie Durante, Rachel Harris and Jade Buhite all recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins for Behrend. Arica Christman tallied her second singles win of the season at the No.1 spot, earning a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Playing at second singles, Stephanie Cattron won 6-2, 6-3 and Hillary Lasher only gave up one game in her 6-0, 6-1 victory.

The win marks the second straight for Behrend, who returns to action on Wednesday at home against Fredonia. Match time is 4 p.m.
