Lions Finish Second at CSAC Championship; Carr Named Track Athlete of the Year

LAPLUME, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track & field team finished second at the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship on Saturday with a score of 139. Alfred State tallied their first CSAC Championship with a score of 247. Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) was named the CSAC Track Athlete of the Year.

Key Moments:

* Senior Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) won two events for Behrend today and claimed the CSAC Track Athlete of the Year award
* The Lions went one, two, and three in the 1500m. Carr led the way running 5:24.31 followed by Emily Ferrans (Bradfordwoods, PA/North Allegheny) (5:23.13) and Izzy Spires (Erie, PA/Seneca) (5:24.36)
* Spires and Carr finished first and second in the 800m run, running 2:34.29 and 2:34.84, respectively
* Carr was the gold finisher in the 5000m run (21:06.13), followed by Johnson (21:22.85)
* Caroline Upham (Erie, PA/Iroquois) won the high jump event with a leap of 1.50m
* In the pole vault, Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) had a mark of 3.05m, good for first place and 10 points for the Lions
* Emily Mischen (Gibsonia, PA/Deer Lakes) won the shot put by more than one meter, throwing for 11.51m

* The Behrend Lions will compete at the PAC Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday at Grove City College.
